Cornmeal

I absolutely LOVE cornbread, especially with jalapenos minced in it. Oh, yum. I'm hungry. Well, it does not exist in Australia. We have to use polenta which makes a similar type of dish, only it is a mere insufficient substitute. Nora found this at a small grocer near her home. I was elated hoping that maybe, JUST maybe, it would be the real McCoy. Sadly, I baked yet another flat, polenta-ish cornbread.

Fiona

After running a bunch of errands today, we rang Fiona to see if she was working at Cafe Incontro. Indeed, we caught her just after her shift ended which was perfect. We were able to chat for a long time. Fi is almost finished with her teaching degrees and will get married in March. She is an absolute treasure on this earth. She loves the LORD with all of her heart and has a desire to go into ministry. WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH FI!!

Calvary Chapel Sydney Camp

We drove about an hour south of our home to join Calvary Chapel Sydney for their retreat. I am too much of a germaphobe to sleep in camping quarters, so we opted to commute back and forth each day.

I don't know how we managed to get out of kitchen duty. I would have brought my own food anyway, but was so thankful I did after seeing chook (chicken) thawing at room temperature on the bench (kitchen counter). Ugh!

Yacht Club

Paul and Christina came to watch Jonathon compete in the pinball finals. On our way home, we followed them to the yacht club for a cuppa. It has fantastic views of the water. We must visit this place again.

What do they say? A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. I think the same goes for pinball. : )

Pinball Expo

Today was the first Sydney Pinball Expo. It was a HUGE disappointment. We have attended events in the U.S., the Netherlands and Belgium which are always professionally done. This was slap sticked together by a few people who wanted to sell off their old pins. Would you believe that a Medieval Madness was for sale for $13,500! OH MYLANTA!

Jonathon qualified on Getaway to compete in the finals tomorrow.

The pins were placed too close together. It was virtually impossible to walk amongst them, especially for a preggo like me. : )

Despite the letdown, Jonathon, Wayne and Paul seemed to enjoy themselves immensely.

Mother's Day

After Bible study tonight, Jonathon had all the mums come into the kitchen to take a photo with our Mother's Day cakes. I am the one who orders the sweets for everyone's birthday and anniversary, so it was a delight to get surprised for once.

Eden got me a glider for Mum's Day this year. It is like a rocking chair but it "glides" forward and back, reclines, and swivels. It was on back order, so we'll take a photo when it arrives.

Feijoa

Here is my latest discovery - FEIJOA. It is a fruit from New Zealand.

When the skin has darkened and is a bit soft, you lop off the end.

Scoop out the flesh with a spoon.


This is fabulous! It tastes a bit like spearmint.
