Cafe Night - April, 2011

Cafe Night is a monthly gathering of people at AIR Cafe in Castle Hill. We play games, a guest speaker gives a short devotion, we sing and play music, and hook up with old and new friends. It's ALWAYS a great night.

Lucy and her daughter Sam. Joshua is in the background.

Stuart and Lilias

Stuart and Lilias are our friends from Scotland. We met Stuart in 2003 when we were diving on the Spoil Sport in the Great Barrier Reef. It was such a blessing to have them in our home again.

Shocking Labels on Kid's Clothing

I was appalled to find these labels on kid's clothing that had been donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

I got permission to cut all tags out of the clothing.

Unbelievable. What kind of nation have we become?

Les and Lucy invited us, as well as a several other friends, over to teach them how to play Farkle.

Stan Walker

We found out Stan Walker was going to be performing at a church in Penrith tonight.

Stan Walker, Australian Idol winner 2009
He is a Christian and is now in full-time ministry. If you ever get the chance to hear him sing or speak, you have to go.

Kelly and me after the concert.

Christmas Jigsaw from my Mum

This was a jigsaw puzzle that my mum gave us for Christmas.

In order to save space in her suitcase, she tore off the photo on the side of the puzzle box. We had to use a magnifying glass in order to get some idea of what the puzzle looked like. : O

The Blue Plate

Rob found out about this American restaurant and wanted us all to go for dinner one night.

Rob and Paul were so happy to indulge in some chicken wings.

Jonathon and Ken

Me and Dalita

Carol and Joel (Looks like they are "winging it" too.)
Dinner was delicious but exceedingly high priced. Then again, where can you eat out in Sydney that ISN'T expensive???

Crust

We stumbled upon this new chain restaurant in Macquarie Shopping Centre.

Jonathon gave the pepperoni a thumbs up.

The vegetarian was yummy.

While we waited for our pizza, Jonathon managed to set a new record in Farkle. He got to 10,000 points in only six turns.

Yireh at the Outback

We told Yireh that she now has PROOF that she has been into the Australian Outback!

Girl's Day Out

Monique invited Norm and me to her house for lunch. She met us at the door with bunny ears, which I wore the entire day.

My first fig. Mmmmm, it was DEEEElicious!

I have known Monique since 2010, yet she has kept her talent for painting a secret. One of the things she loves to paint is fronds. She sands them smooth and then paints faces on them. What a magnificent gift from God.

Yireh

Yireh, which is prounounced "G Ray," is a missionary who stayed with us for a few nights. She is living in the UK at the moment, but will be moving to either Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia or New Zealand on her next missionary trip. She is absolutely delightful. I hope her travels will bring her through Sydney again. We would love to offer her a home away from home.

She has been carrying a guitar with her for the past 10 YEARS but doesn't really play. She said she hopes to make the time one day. That 's devotion to haul a guitar case around for a DECADE! Jonathon and Ian had fun teaching her some chords.

Yireh may be an adorable friend, but she is pitiful at playing games. Poor girl. I have never seen anyone have such bad luck.

Insomnia

After the biblical dinner, we were on an adrenaline rush, and therefore headed over to Insomnia for some caffeine. What were we thinking??? We always have fun even though I forgot my dice tonight. Doh!

Biblical Dinner

Jonathon with one of his props which is used to to pour water for the washing of feet.

I took a quick snap of across the room during the break for dinner.

Carol, Kay Lee, Joshua, Janette, Denise, Tim, Paul, me, Jonathon, Kara, Bob and Paul
We haven't seen Denise, Tim or Kara in over three years. What a wonderful surprise that they came tonight.

Karina attends Calvary Chapel Sydney, but volunteered to work in any capacity where she was needed. I love her servant's heart.

Biblical Dinner

At a biblical dinner, you learn the customs and culture of the days when Jesus lived. It gives you a unique perspective when you read Scripture because you now know why certain events are so significant.
Paul was setting up the table and rug where Jonathon would be speaking.

Bob and Carol prepping in the canteen.

Jacqui was such a wonderful servant. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Sunny Seas Jigsaw Puzzle

When my mum came to Sydney for Christmas, she brought us two jigsaw puzzles.

To save space in her suitcase, she brought the bag with the puzzle pieces in it and tore off this 3 X 3 inch picture of the actual puzzle. We had to use an illuminated magnifying lens to figure out where some of the sections were supposed to go.

Trip to Newie

On our way up to Newcastle this morning, I saw this sign in front of a church.

Lindy, me and Dell at Calvary Chapel Newcastle.

We took Joel and Carol to Grill'd (there's no "E"). Carol ate that entire burger because she said it was too good to throw it away. I think it weighed almost as much as she did. :)

After lunch we headed to Kiwis to grab an ice cream and walk on the beach. What a lovely day.
