Robbie and Cupid

I hope I can get this video to display. This is my brother Robbie and Ang's pot-bellied pig Cupid. They are both too cute!

Snow on Pike's Peak

If you are so inclined, you have to double-click on this photo to appreciate the beauty here. I miss the mountains and snow SO MUCH!

Levi

This is Dan and Ang's son Levi. Poor baby...we plum tuckered him out every single night.

La Casa Fiesta with Brian, Dan & Ang

Jonathon and I with our very first Calvary pastor, Brian Michaels. It was so much fun to catch up with him. I tortured Brian all evening long with a gazillion hugs.

Ang, Danny and Jonathon

My sopapilla covered in honey. Oh my.... food is so tasty here!

Dan, Ang, Brian, me and Jonathon
I won't forget this night for a long, long time.

The Barnyard Animals

This is my best friend Ang with her donkey named Autumn.

Meet Cheese and Crackers the llamas.

Here my mum is getting acquainted with Kit. She is SUCH a sweet animal. In fact, she acts more like an overgrown dog than a horse!

The Range Cafe

I never come to Albuquerque without eating a breakfast burrito at The Range Cafe. Unfortunately, Silas put a damper on me enjoying my most favourite meal. I had to have a green chili burger with sweet potato waffle fries instead. Can I just note that it wasn't a sacrifice at all!

Oh, how I wish I could buy green chilies in Australia. The Aussies have no idea what they are missing!

Mutti ordered chicken enchiladas with blue corn tortillas.

This is my sister-in-law Blake who is married to Jonathon's brother Dean. LOVE HER!

Dean's Dessert

This is Jonathon's brother Dean. He is skinny as a rail but can indulge in a plate of angel food cake, strawberries and cream.

Mom's First Chicken Wings

I should start off by saying that I NEVER eat meat on a bone but my mum does.

Mummy had a coupon for a free appetizer at the Cattleman's Restaurant.

This is her first ever chicken wing. Isn't she cute?

I don't think she was prepared for the spiciness of them.

She did overcome her initial shock and ate nearly all of them.

Pumpkin Bread

Mummy and I stopped at The Corner Bakery for a slice of pumpkin bread. Aussies prefer their pumpkin in soup or as a baked vegetable. They never eat it as a sweet. I am glad they serve it by the slice or I would have devoured the entire loaf myself. Mmmm, so good!

Mom and I can't pass up the opportunity to throw the Farkle dice when we take a coffee break. What a leisure afternoon. This is such a nicely paced day. Ahhh!

$8 for Unlimited Bowling? You've GOT to be kidding!

I know this sounds like I am whinging, but we pay $14 PER GAME to go bowling in Australia. That means it would cost Jonathon and I $84 to bowl THREE GAMES. What would I give to have unlimited bowling for only $8???? Have I mentioned how much I LOVE AMERICA?

Aunt Jacque

I have called Mrs. Lindsey "Aunt Jacque" since I was only nine-years-old. It is because of her that I grasp the concept of adoption. It make no difference to me whether she is a blood relative because she occupies a place in my heart where she will always reside. I LOVE YOU!

Marina's Bakery with Cyndi Swanson

Mom, Cydni and I hooked up again at Marina's German Bakery this morning. This date ended WAY too soon.

Empty Costco Aisle

I had to take this snap for our Aussie friends. THIS is what Costco is supposed to look like during the week. You can roam freely without have 10,000 other shoppers blocking your every move. Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE AMERICA?

Flowers for ME?

Jonathon never sends me flowers. He must have REALLY missed me and Silas today.

Australian for Beer

Mom and I went to Logan's Steakhouse for lunch after Bible study today. I had to laugh when I saw this sign advertising Foster's Australian Beer hanging on the wall. I think it was God's way of reminding me to pray for Jonathon and friends back in Sydney.

Mrs. Brown

Mrs. Brown not only teaches my mum's Bible study, but I was involved in the youth department with her son yonks ago.

The Will of God Will Never....

I went to the Bible study with my mom this morning. I found MY sign in the restroom of the church. It reads: THE WILL OF GOD WILL NEVER TAKE YOU WHERE THE GRACE OF GOD WILL NOT PROTECT YOU. Of course, the tears flowed from my eyes. God reminds me of this saying continually to help me heal from Eden's death.

Aunt Jacque & Mr. Lindsey

Although Aunt Jacque isn't related by blood, she has been my mom's best friend for the past 34 years. It was like having a family reunion when she and Mr. Lindsey walked through the door.

Tanya Humphrey

This is my friend Tanya Humphrey who lives in Nashville, Tennessee. It was a fluke that she came to El Paso to check up on her mom at the same time I was visiting my mum. We had an awesome time at Starbucks. What a sweet friend!

05 September 2011

Cactus

If you describe something as "cactus" in Australia, you mean it is broken. In El Paso, you can buy cactus along with your salad or bananas at the local Wal-Mart.

Cyndi Swanson

Cyndi is a friend from our church in Colorado. What a WONDERFUL surprise to learn that she was living in El Paso for the next year before becoming a full-time missionary in Chihuahua, Mexico. We had such a fabulous time catching up on the past five years.

Blueberries for HOW MUCH???

This post is for our Aussie friends. These two pounds of beautiful blueberries cost $6.99, which is the equivalent of almost a kilo.

I told mom that she HAD to take my picture. I didn't want to forget the price!

I had heaps of blueberries on my cereal in the morning and for snacks every single day. Mmmm!

Barrigas Mexican Food

When I visit El Paso, I love to eat the Mexican food at Barrigas.

Normally I would devour Chili Rellenos, but I can't have the cheese because I'm pregnant. I also didn't want to eat the beans or rice since I didn't know when they were made. For the first time EVER, I had a chicken breast with green chilies and avocado. I refuse to complain though. It's such a small price to pay for the health of my son.

I don't know if mummy wanted to torture me or if she was just craving rellenos, but she devoured hers right in front me.

Bananas Cost HOW MUCH?

I was shocked to find bananas for $.39 per POUND. I pay $14.99 for 2.2 POUNDS in Sydney.

Honk if Kids Fall Out

Mum and I parked next to this vehicle. I was laughing my head off when I saw this sticker.

Smashburger

I think it was my friend Linda Percy who first commented on FaceBook about Smashburger. I told my mum when we saw it that we HAD to have lunch here today.

Mom thought Smashburger was a hit too.

DEEEEElicious!

These are sweet potato fries with garlic, herbs and olive oil. YUMMY!

Our son is getting bigger every day.

Eden Project

Kelly's friend, whom I have never even met, went to Paris and saw this necklace which says EDEN PROJECT. She thought I needed to have it as a reminder of my baby girl. God continues to help me heal through the kindness of complete strangers. Indeed, YOU ARE WORTHY TO BE PRAISED!

Bel & Tina

Bel was Eden's very first NICU nurse. She has become a treasured friend over the years. Today we met at the Beehive for a FABULOUS brekkie.
